Here are some useful links from a presentation I’m giving to a group of people from the non-profit sector about search marketing.
1. IAB Search Toolkit for Charities & Public Sector
I co-wrote some of this, so obviously I’m going to say that it is excellent. It is though!
2. Google Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide
Learn about SEO from the horse’s mouth – this is an excellent guide and has recently been updated to cover subjects like mobile and social media.
3. Google for non-profits
Poorly promoted, but an excellent directory of resources and free stuff from the Googleplex. Plus Harvest Digital is listed as a recommended supplier
4. Hitwise Data Centre
Updated weekly, this is the best data there is for search engine reach as measured in share of searches. To save you looking, Google is number one by a country mile, but there are signs of growth around Bing.
5. Importance of navigational search
Here is the Atlas report which remains the most thorough and somewhat worrying analysis of navigational search. The analysis is of paid search only.
6. Google Multi-Channel Funnels
I’m not going to present this, but this is clearly the future. Check out the video for a demo of how multi-channel funnel analysis will work in Google Analytics (it’s currently in restricted beta launch).
